Corrupt Philip Mainga strikes again in the sham Recruitment exercise
Philip Mainga’s Fake Recruitment: A senior Railways staff has reportedly lost sh 20 million in the recently concluded sham Recruitment exercise Credible information from one of the staff at Railways Headquarters in an acting capacity said he gave the cash to the Board to facilitate the recruitment but he was shortchanged after meeting their demands.
Contrary to expectations, many internal staff either shunned to apply for lack of trust in the process- the few that applied were not considered. The board proceeded to conduct interviews between 19th and 21st August 2024 for General Manager Corporate Services, General Manager Business & Commercial, General Manager Finance, General Manager Procurement, and General Manager Legal Services.
Sources said the board appointed Benedict Kiema Kavua, the current procurement manager at Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company for the position of General manager procurement. It is interesting to note that Kiema currently has an active court case with his employer and is bedeviled by corruption investigations.
“It alleged that some of the successful candidates bribed the Board with higher amounts of cash and got the positions. The Board reportedly favored some candidates based on tribal inclinations to protect their interests,” said an insider.
The Railway managing director Philip Mainga reportedly facilitated the appointment of Kiema his tribesman – to protect his interests since his term is ending.
The Board reportedly recruited one junior officer by the name of Stanley Cheruiyot who is of grade RG5 to an RG2 position going against their own advertised qualification criterion. Two other positions were reportedly given to members of the same community who do not have the requisite qualifications.
